Golf Passion and Legacy

Golf has been my lifelong passion, nurtured since my early days on high school courses in Washington DC. Those formative experiences laid a strong foundation, propelling me to notable performances in amateur championships. Collaborating with Bob Toski was a pivotal chapter, shaping my philosophy and honing my skills. With years of international competition and a dedication to teaching, I strive to inspire the next generation. Let's celebrate the game's enduring charm and explore your potential together. Whether seasoned or new to golf, let's chart your path to success.

Who Am I

Golf Instructor

I grew up and played high school golf in the Washington DC area. As a junior player I qualified for the 1976 U.S. Golf Association's Junior Championship in Evergreen, Colorado. In 1977, my high school team captured the Maryland State High School Championship. My tutelage with Bob Toski since 1975 would later prove to be the pivotal move for my development as a golfer and instructor.

My Approach

Instinctive Golf Instruction

My approach to teaching and learning golf is natural and intuitive, strongly adhering to the technical aspects, yet the approach is quite different and unique. This learning approach is more similar to how we learned to ride a bike or swimming. Rather than focusing on positions, utilizing motion as a vehicle in my exercises and drills promotes feel and intuition which leads the golfer to trust their instincts. More trust and awareness is evident as the student realizes the innate ability from within through this approach. In essence, the student becomes the teacher and reaches a much higher level of awareness and confidence than might be produced by a more analytical approach. The learning process is more refreshing, more easily retained and allows the self-coaching aspect to blossom.

Proven Heritage Advantage

This right-brained, more spatial approach, frees the student from judgment and allows them to let go of perfection and create their natural swing. The discovery of this intuition helps the student reach a level of performance and awareness unmatched by any other golf program. Finally, the students learn to trust their instincts and this discovery makes their potential boundless. My approach was highly influenced by Bob Toski , who pioneered the use of feel and intuition in his competitive play and his teaching. Toski authored the books, "The Touch System to Better Golf", "How to Become a Complete Golfer", and "How To Feel A Real Golf Swing". I also espouse the natural learning process of Betty Edwards who authored the books, "Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain", and "Creating the Artist Within".

During my time as General Manager at Mission Country Club in Odessa, Texas, I had the pleasure of working with Kevin Battersby as an integral part of our management team. Kevin was our teaching professional, and brought so much more to the organization than what our very high expectations were for the position. Kevin had the vision, enthusiasm and professionalism that enabled him to deliver a program that was unparalleled in the marketplace. In his ...

Words From My Students

John Elliott, Jr.

What differentiates Kevin from other job applicants is his consistent personality and his unique ability to both play and communicate the game to others.

I've had the opportunity to watch Kevin mature and grow over the past few years. He has spent many hours observing me teach, and we have spent a lot of time on the golf course playing and talking golf. But, probably where I've gotten to know Kevin best is during the time he spent living at my home. During that time, I found Kevin to be dependable, honest, sincere, and helpful to others.

As you may or may not already know, Kevin and I are planning to conduct
golf schools in the south Florida area. He is hired under my supervision as director of the schools.

Therefore, I would highly recommend that you consider Kevin for whatever position he applies because he is a hard working and conscientious young man.

Very truly yours,
John Elliott, Jr.

Throughout one's career there are a few people who will influence you, inspire you, and help lead you on your future path. Often this happens without them even realizing what they have done for you. For me Kevin Battersby was one of those people in my life. As a junior golfer in West Texas, Kevin was my instructor, giving me insights to my swing that I still refer to today. He introduced me to a game that became a passion of mine and led to my eventual career in the golf industry. It was my time working for him at Mission Dorado Country Club in Odessa, Texas that was perhaps the most impressionable and memorable times that let me know that I had found my future. It was such a positive experience in my life that I will always cherish. We are in the entertainment business, creating experiences with the game of golf as our stage. No one has shown me how to do that better than Kevin Battersby.
